Rich Grissom Memorial Wetlands at Viera, FL
Known as Viera Wetlands in Brevard County just off Wickham Rd., visitors are able to view a wide variety of wildlife by car, hiking or biking. It is recommended that visitors stay back from the shoreline around the water cells (lakes) due to the alligators in residence. There is also a second group of ponds (locally known as the “Dan Click Ponds” or “Duda Ponds”) can be accessed from a dirt road on the north side of Wickham Rd., across from the main entrance.
Waterfowl and shorebird diversity is outstanding. More information and 232 species have been recorded on eBird lists viewable on the website http://floridabirdingtrail.com/index.php/trip/trail/Ritch_Grissom_Memorial_Wetlands_at_Viera_aka_Viera_Wetlands/
